Students for Integrative Medicine's Community Service Committee is dedicated to bringing the benefits of integrative and alternative medicine to communities in Orange County. We have developed a stress reduction workshop and presented it to residents of the Costa Mesa Motor Inn through the Medical Initiative Against Homelessness (MIAH) and the Illumination Foundation. The Community Service Committee's endeavors will expand in scope and content as we pursue new relevant projects and work with local community organizations. The Community Service Committee serves to better the health of community members in ways that Western medicine tends to overlook, aiming to increase overall quality of life.
Things we do with our committee members:
Hospice Volunteer Project: visit bedridden and other patients
conduct stress reduction workshop at underserved communities
develop novel health promotion workshops
volunteer at charity events
World Water Awareness Day to fundraise to provide clean water to third world country
